Director, Investments

Stephen has over 30 years experience as a fund manager from the debt and private equity perspectives. As a senior fund manager at Société Générale Asset Management UK Stephen managed closed-end private equity funds investing across all sectors in the emerging markets of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Baltics and the Middle East. Stephen has been involved in multiple funds investing into the Canadian alternative space with AUM approaching $1B in aggregate – including strategies deploying capital into farmland, private credit, energy and SME PE. Stephen launched Canada’s first RRSP/TFSA eligible farmland investment vehicle. Stephen has a BSc. (1987) and a LLB from the University of Alberta (1990) and an MBA (1994) from the London Business School.

Director, Operations

Matt is an accomplished business leader with over 20 years of experience and a robust educational background, including a Master of Business from Kettering University, a Bachelor of Operations from the University of Western Sydney, and a purchasing diploma from Fanshawe College, complemented by leadership and Six Sigma certificates from Cornell University.

Throughout his career, Matt has focused on implementing innovative techniques learned through his continuous professional development. He is both a practitioner and theorist in transformations and culture development through Six Sigma and lean methodologies, demonstrating these skills across various organizations and industries, including automotive, heavy machinery, industrials, and oil and gas.

Matt excels in leadership and culture creation, building strong, sustainable teams, brands, and businesses with a fundamental approach.

Director, Structuring

Mr. Laughland has over 20 years of experience in the areas of corporate finance, investment fund management, mergers and acquisitions, debt/equity financings, re-structurings and business management. His experience crosses both public and private capital markets. Early in his career Mr. Laughland was a partner in the corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions group with McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where he advised public and private companies, venture capitalists and private equity funds covering a broad range of matters related to business transactions, corporate finance, reorganizations and mergers and acquisitions, including a focus on alternative transaction and investment structures. Since 2007, Mr. Laughland has been involved as senior leadership in several ventures. In addition to his farmland endeavors, he co-founded Evora Equity Inc., a healthcare focused firm. From 2009-2016, he was vice-president, corporate affairs for a publicly-traded investment company. Mr. Laughland received a B.Comm (1991) and J.D. (1994), both from the University of Saskatchewan.

Director, Finance

Kerri brings over 18 years of experience in public accounting and private equity, having collaborated with a diverse range of businesses and business owners across multiple industries. Currently a director at Omnigence, Kerri provides strategic oversight of the finance function for the company and the funds it manages. Before transitioning to private equity in 2015, she spent eight years at BDO Canada, where she specialized in auditing complex engagements for both public and private entities in sectors including manufacturing, fabrication, distribution, energy, communications, and technology. Kerri is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA 2010) and holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, both from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Partner - Corpus and Arvore Funds

Chad is a result driven investment banking professional with 15+ years of experience providing practical and creative financial and strategic advice to a broad range of corporate and institutional clients. During his time at Macquarie Group, Chad obtained increasingly senior roles and earned his CFA designation. He originated and/or executed >C$6.0 billion in M&A transactions and lead/co-lead >C$2.0 billion in ECM/DCM transactions. In addition, he pursued numerous principal transactions including internal platform growth and external development and construction debt, equity and advisory, opportunities. Chad’s primary coverage primarily focused on energy and infrastructure, but also includes significant exposure to renewable energy, renewable fuels and diversified industries. Chad is a CFA charterholder and has a BCom. from the Haskayne School of Business.

Director and Vice President Operations – Veripath Partners

Carmon has over 30 years of experience in the agriculture industry, including owning and managing a grain and oilseed farm. He was also senior project manager for multiple international agriculture and ag-tech companies across Canada and the United States. In addition, he has over 20 years experience in investment and finance industry working with various mutual fund and private equity companies. He received his BA. in International Economics (2005) University of Ryerson, and MSc. Quantitative Finance (2006) University of Westminster.

Director, Capital Markets

Jonathan is a seasoned alternative investment professional with 15+ years of experience and a US$20Bn+ fundraising track record across all alternative asset classes, securing capital from North American and European institutional investors. His expertise spans investment structuring, market expansion, and distribution strategy optimization. Prior to joining Omnigence, he held senior positions in the asset management industry, driving significant AUM growth. Alongside his professional career, Jonathan has been teaching alternative investments at HEC Montréal for 10 years, mentoring students and young professionals entering the asset management industry.

Jonathan holds a Graduate Diploma in Finance from HEC Montréal (Canada), a Master’s degree in International Business Development from ESC St-Étienne (France), and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.

Investment Administrator

Latifa has over five years of banking experience as a business advisor at a provincial Crown corporation and financial institution, where she worked with current and potential business account holders. In her current role as an Investment Administrator at Omnigence, she bridges data analysis and advisor feedback to enhance procedures and improve relationship management strategies. Latifa holds a Bachelor of Sociology degree with a major in Law and Society from the University of Calgary.

Bookkeeper

Kemi brings extensive expertise in financial analysis, full-cycle accounting, and compliance to her role as a bookkeeper at Omnigence. She is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records and improving accounting processes. Prior to joining Omnigence, Kemi worked as an auditor at Deloitte, where she honed her skills in financial auditing and regulatory compliance. Kemi holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and is committed to promoting efficient financial practices within the organization.

Investment and Legal Administration Manager

Nicole has over 18 years of experience in finance, private equity and legal administration. At Omnigence, she plays a key role in supporting the board of directors by maintaining corporate governance across all entities, including compliance and entity management. Her expertise ensures that all governance practices align with regulatory standards and organizational goals.

Before joining the company, Nicole worked as a legal assistant in the corporate practice group at a prominent Canadian law firm in Calgary. Her legal administration background equips her with a strong foundation in corporate governance and compliance.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and a Legal Assistant Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

Executive Vice President - Private Capital Markets

Jay Barrett has held key positions at some of Canada’s premier financial institutions including CIBC Asset Management and BMO Financial. He has extensive experience in both public and private markets, spanning two decades. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis Xavier University and graduated in Financial Management at Cornell University. Jay serves on the board of directors of two benevolent foundations: Montreal’s Mile End Mission and the Trinity Centers Foundation.

Business Intelligence Analyst

Eyob is a skilled Business Intelligence Analyst with a proven track record in optimizing work time utilization through data-driven insights. In his current role, he is dedicated to driving efficiency and fostering innovation by applying his expertise in data analysis and business intelligence to support portfolio companies’ strategic decision-making processes.

Previously, as a Workforce Analyst at GroupSource Insurance, he effectively enhanced operational efficiency by leveraging his data analysis expertise. Eyob holds a Business Analysis certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and a Data Science diploma from Lighthouse Labs, showcasing his strong analytical skills and technical proficiency in coding.

Managing Director – Evora Equity

Jeff has a wide range of professional experience which includes operational experience, acquisitions, financings, and working closely with management teams to achieve the next stage of their growth. Jeff previously worked as the Vice President of Investments at a western Canadian based private equity firm where he was responsible for sourcing and analyzing opportunities, performing due diligence, negotiations and working with portfolio companies on their strategic plans. Jeff also has experience starting and operating a rail construction and maintenance division for a family owned construction conglomerate.

Jeff is a designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and has experience working for Ernst & Young in their corporate finance, restructuring and audit groups. Jeff is originally from Manitoba where he received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the I.H. Asper School of Business.

Office Manager

Brittany is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in Executive Assistance and Office Management, spanning diverse industries such as law, engineering, and tech start-ups. Her extensive background equips her with a deep understanding of operational excellence and executive level support. With a diploma in Communications, majoring in Public Relations, Brittany is dedicated to ensuring seamless organizational efficiency and delivering exceptional, results-driven support.

Lean and Continuous Improvement Manager

Manpreet is a seasoned industrial engineering expert with deep familiarity with lean six sigma techniques. He has over 12 years of experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing and public sectors. Some of his skills and expertise lie in world class manufacturing, kaizen facilitation, value stream mapping, operations management, focused improvement, project management and change management to name a few. Manpreet has a Masters of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from the University of Windsor and a Bachelors of Engineering and Technology in Industrial Engineering from Punjab Technical University with Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from Project Management Institute(PMI) as well as Change Management Practitioner Certification from Prosci. As a Lean and Continuous Improvement Manager, Manpreet is responsible for developing continuous improvement systems and support the portfolio companies in their journey towards operational excellence.

Advisory Council

Dan brings more than 30 years of capital markets experience to Omnigence as the founding member of our advisory Council. His track record of success in corporate finance, M&A, fund management and debt/equity financings further adds to the bench strength. During his career Dan advised on more than $10 billion in M&A transactions and was involved in raising more $15 billion in equity and debt for a combination of third-party clients and principal investment opportunities. He remains active in the community including a long-standing partnership with the Dood Cristall Family YMCA in Brandon, Manitoba. Dan’s current roles include:

  • Founder, CEO of Olexa Developments (a privately owned real estate development company);
  • Board Member, Myplas Recycling Inc. (a mixed-use plastics recycling company); and
  • Board Member, FRNT Financial (a publicly traded institutional capital markets and advisory platform focused on digital assets)

Prior thereto, Dan held several senior leadership roles, including:

  • Chairman of Orion Securities (an employee owned; independent broker sold in 2008 for more than $125 million)
  • Head, Global Oil And Gas, Macquarie Capital
  • Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd. (the Canadian broker dealer entity for Macquarie Group)

Dan has a MBA, Ivey Business School (1992) and Bachelor of Arts (Economics), Western University (1988).

Senior Financial Analyst

Danny is an experienced accounting professional with over nine years of expertise in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Over the course of his career, he has worked with large publicly traded oil and gas companies to private mid-sized companies. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting, from Mars Hill University, and further solidified his professional qualifications by earning the CPA designation while working in industry. As a Senior Financial Analyst, he is responsible for fund accounting and plays a key role in financial management, providing essential accounting oversight to the portfolio companies.

Investment Administrator

Mariya Farooq brings extensive experience in fund administration, financial analysis, and client relationship management. At Omnigence, she plays a key role in fund administration, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing stakeholder relationships. Her expertise ensures financial practices align with industry standards and organizational objectives.

In previous roles, Mariya demonstrated strong skills in managing accounts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and analyzing data. She has coordinated accounts receivable and payable, supported tax preparation, and prepared financial reports. Her deep understanding of compliance protocols, including anti-money laundering procedures, and her proficiency in financial management tools have enabled her to handle financial operations with precision. Mariya also has a strong background in sales and mentoring team members. Her combination of financial expertise and communication skills allows her to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.

Mariya holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Analysis and Management from Mount Royal University.

Vice President – Data Analytics

Yannick has over 10 years of working experience with business leaders in diverse industries implementing and project managing technological solutions for business requirements. He holds a Master’s degree of Science in Business Studies from Brussels University and a Bachelor in Human Resources from Ghent University. As Vice President of Operations and Analytics, Yannick leads the onboarding of companies to the portfolio and digital era. He identifies opportunities by providing transparency, while sharing common industry performance indicators through real-time reporting. Yannick builds bridges between computation and real world challenges through cognitive frameworks and strategic approaches.

Senior Accountant – Veripath Partners

Bob is Veripath’s Controller. Prior to Veripath Bob worked across a wide variety of industries including Private Equity, Insurance, Health Care, Engineering, and Oil & Gas Services in a number of roles progressing from Analyst to Controller. He also owned his own insurance brokerage from 1990 – 1995. Bob has worked as an accountant for the past 20 years and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CGA – 2004).

Controller

Rajpaul has over 9 years experience in the accounting and finance industry, having worked both in public accounting and private practice. As Controller, Rajpaul is responsible for full cycle accounting and financial reporting duties for the fund and for providing additional accounting oversight to the portfolio companies. Prior to joining the Omnigence team, Rajpaul was the Controller at a Calgary based commodities private equity firm where he was the lead for all accounting operations including financial reporting, full cycle accounting and investor relations. Rajpaul obtained his CPA designation in 2019, while working at PwC and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Senior Financial Analyst

Dheryll brings over five years of experience in accounting and finance roles, demonstrating expertise across diverse financial functions. As a Senior Financial Analyst, Dheryll oversees fund accounting and plays a key role in financial management. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and reached a significant career milestone by passing the CPA CFE exam in 2023. Dheryll is currently in the final stages of earning his CPA designation.

Investment Administration Manager

Nadia brings over 18 years of experience working in oil and gas and private capital markets. As Investment Administration Manager at Omnigence, she collaborates closely with the Finance team and liaises with financial institutions to manage investor profiles and oversees trade processing. In her role, Nadia is also responsible for driving continuous improvements in back-office workflow processes to enhance operational efficiency within the data management system and documentation.

Before joining Omnigence, Nadia was a Project Coordinator for a Canadian company developing technology for marine transportation of compressed natural gas (CNG). In this capacity, she coordinated and assisted with projects in Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Nadia holds a Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship (International Business) with honours from Mount Royal University.

Associate

Bennett has over five years of diverse professional experience in private equity, investment banking, and audit. As an Associate on the private equity team, Bennett is involved in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and supporting portfolio management. He works closely with senior partners to structure and execute transactions and collaborates with portfolio companies. Previously, Bennett was an Investment Banking Associate at National Bank Financial, where he specialized in executing M&A, ECM, and DCM transactions, with a focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors. He began his career at KPMG, where he earned his CPA designation and gained experience in the audit and corporate finance groups. Bennett holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting and finance from the Royal Military College of Canada.

Deals Consultant – Arvore Partners

Harold is a successful entrepreneur and seasoned financial executive experienced at growing teams and businesses. Harold has been in a variety of roles, including Co-founder, Director, General Partner, President, VP of Investments and CFO during his 35-year career. Harold has attained significant M&A, finance, and accounting experience in both a private and public company context as a CPA. Most recently Harold was Co-founder, Director, and President of a publicly traded private equity fund where he led 15 acquisitions of mid-market businesses across Canada from 2005 to 2020.

Vice President – Finance

Scott has over 15 years’ experience working in both public and private practice across numerous finance roles. As VP Investments, Scott has full oversight around the fund’s accounting and finance functions with a focus on investor reporting, acquisition related due diligence, onboarding and integration while also providing financial oversight to the individual portfolio companies. Prior to joining Omnigence in 2019, Scott was a Senior Finance Manager at an Ontario based transportation and logistics firm where he gained extensive experience leading full cycle accounting, financial systems and external reporting processes with a focus on process improvement initiatives. Scott obtained his CPA, CA designation (2012) while at Ernst & Young where he worked on both public and private clients within the technology, insurance and manufacturing sectors and holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.

President – Light Industrial

Manoj brings over 25 years of extensive management and executive experience in the automotive, rail, and defense industries, both in North America and internationally. His career spans key leadership roles, including managing Tier 1 automotive supply businesses in Canada, the U.S., and Europe with JCI.

Manoj played a pivotal role in strategic operations and business growth during his tenure at Electro-Motive Diesel/Caterpillar, where he served as VP Global Operations. In this capacity, he oversaw OEM rail operations, driving significant accomplishments such as establishing locomotive business units across Canada, the U.S., Europe, Brazil, Mexico, India, and South Africa.

In the defense sector, Manoj served as President & CEO of FPH Group, where he directed the company’s overall strategy, growth, and operations in domestic and international markets. His leadership focused on delivering system-level solutions for ground-based vehicle platforms, contributing to the company’s success and positioning it for long-term growth.

Manoj’s academic credentials include an Honors degree in Physics specializing in theoretical and applied nuclear applications from McMaster University, an Executive MBA from the University of Birmingham (UK), and certifications in leadership, Agile program management (University of Western Ontario), and Six Sigma Black Belt (JCILI).

Full Stack Developer

Ali is a dedicated Full Stack Developer with a passion for building scalable, high-performance web applications. With extensive experience in both frontend and backend development, he loves crafting seamless user interfaces and ensuring that the underlying systems are reliable and secure.

Currently, Ali is a key contributor to TerraFirst, an internal farmland investment management platform that transforms how the company manages farmlands and supports the farmers who rent them. By integrating complex systems and optimizing data management, he helps streamline processes that enhance operational efficiency and improve the daily experiences of both the company and the farmers.

President – Healthcare

Ali is President of Canadian Dental Laboratories LP. Ali has a track record of improving results in fast-paced and growing organizations in healthcare, food & beverage, household & personal care and chemical industries. A customer/people-oriented, hands-on professional that builds high performing teams and manages direct reports by coaching and training, migrating their operation to rely on systems, tools, processes, and teams vs. individuals. Led consolidation of facilities, greenfield projects, due-diligence, closing and integration of add-on acquisitions. Ali has a Masters, Manufacturing Management from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.

Managing Director – Evora Equity

Harvey has nearly 30 years of leadership experience in a variety of industries and brings significant depth in terms of operational experience, business development, acquisitions, and post-acquisition integration. Harvey co-founded a company called Aetas Health Care Inc., a home health care company which was later acquired by a large national healthcare company and is currently a portfolio company of a Canadian pension fund. Harvey was recently the chief executive officer of an oilfield safety company and prior to that was the executive vice president of a western Canadian based private equity firm.

Recently, Harvey had the privilege to work with a non-profit organization in Nepal as the senior operations manager assisting with disaster relief efforts after the two devastating earthquakes in 2015. He also provided advisory services to assist with the establishment of a permanent in-country office located in Greece in support of the Syrian refugee crisis in 2016. Harvey is a Chartered Professional Account (CPA, CMA).

Data Scientist

Keenan has an extensive background in using technology to help businesses derive actionable insights from their data. Working directly with board members and executive teams to support strategic business decisions and goal setting, he continues to develop technical skills to enable quick application for data science solutions. Keenan uses statistical methods and artificial intelligence for a wide range of business problems from process optimization to financial simulation. He holds a master’s degree in economics from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Science (honours) in Economics from the University of Victoria.

Jim has over 40 years of retail and foodservice leadership experience, and understands the inner workings of numerous business models, and leads through transparency and collaboration, with a distinct growth mindset. Jim has a deep passion for developing future leaders. He has worked his way forward in senior level purchasing and operations roles in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, bringing success and growth to every position.
